Our work in Higher Ed is fueled by a strong belief in the transformative power of education. We strive to provide job and internship opportunities to students and recent grads, especially those from lesser-known universities and those with non-traditional backgrounds. We have seen first-hand that their passion and innovative thinking can greatly exceed expectations.

We also strive to give back to the Higher Ed IT community by providing great resources, information, and contacts for IT projects, as well as networking opportunities. There are many ways that you can make a difference, from joining our network of Higher Ed IT peers to becoming a mentor to recommending a candidate for an open position. Community Partners

Room to Read

Aligned with our commitment to education, Room to Read works to bridge the gap between literacy and gender in different parts of the world. Working with Room to Read, we helped create a library in India for underprivileged children.

Groundwork!

Groundwork, located in New Bedford, MA, allows local business owners, artists, and other professionals to come together to thrive in a supportive coworking environment. This is a great shared office space that is easily accessible for those working remotely in southeastern Massachusetts.

UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

UMass Dartmouth’s CIE is a local incubator focused on helping both local business owners and students learn about entrepreneurship through innovative technologies. Their mission is to provide more experiential opportunities for UMass Dartmouth students while promoting economic development in southeastern Massachusetts.

Startup Weekend

Startup Weekend, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, allows local business owners and students to compete in a three-day event in which they pitch business ideas to a committee of judges while working with already-established professionals as mentors. Optimal Partners recently sponsored a Startup Weekend, focused on social entrepreneurship, at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Startup Weekend Azores (Portugal)

Similar to the Startup event that was hosted at the UMass Dartmouth CIE, entrepreneurs were able to compete in the first event of its kind in the Azores. The weekend-long event, hosted at Nonagon, a science and technology park in Lagoa, São Miguel, Azores, helped promote the newly growing culture of entrepreneurship as participants worked to build their startup ideas.

Project Green Ball

Project Green Ball facilitates the recycling of dead tennis balls into cushioned mats for tennis court surfaces which are then donated to various organizations. So far, PGB has collected over 264,000 balls from 100 clubs, schools, camps, academies, and thousands of individuals.
