We advocate the use of scrum methodology as risk mitigation for complex, long-range, high-risk projects. We will demonstrate applying agile principles and “last responsible moment” planning to manage large-scale work, thereby maximizing value delivery and minimizing risk. We will cite specific examples from a yearlong, campus-wide integrated software project and use hands-on planning exercises.Outcomes: Understand and articulate the value of applying scrum concepts to complex, risky, long-term projects *Learn how to divide and prioritize tasks in order to increase agility *Understand the importance of completing small tasks and iterating to minimize risk and value delivery
